LETTER TO MONTGOMERY COUNTY COUNCIL:

Dear Mr. Ewing & Council Members:

I urge the Montgomery County Council to support an impartial study of additional Potomac Crossings such as the proposed "Techway" connecting I-270 with the Reston/Herndon area. Please ask the Governor and Maryland Department of Transportation to co-sponsor a study with the Virginia DOT to pick up where the Federal Highway Administration left off in May, but to assess pros and cons for a second crossing before looking at specific alignments.

Montgomery County’s own preliminary study shows that a new river crossing will reduce Beltway and I-270 congestion much better than a "Purple Line," cost less to build and operate and reduce travel times across the Potomac by 50 percent. Please do something about the I-270/Beltway mess! I request a reply to this letter. Thank you.

Sincerely,

cc: Members, County Council
